ROMANIA-LAOS BUSINESS COUNCIL OPEN HIS GATES
On 11 September 2013 the official inauguration ceremony for Romania-Laos Business Council was held in the presence of the diplomatic community accredited to Romania, of members of Parliamentary friendship Group between Romania and Laos and included also many members of Romanian Senate, Chamber of Deputies and Romanian Government.

The ceremony was opened by Professor Dr. Anton Caragea, Institute of International relations and economic Cooperation Chairman by a short speech underlining that: “by the inauguration of Romania-Laos Business Council, the first institutionalized cooperation bridge is opened between our country and South East Asia”.
His Excellency Professor Dr. Anton Caragea had emphasize moreover the fact that as a future task: “the Romania-Laos Business Council must support the activity of the business people interested in economic recovery and in the presence of Romanian assets and goods on the future markets of Asia. We hope that the Romanian – Laotian initiative shall be a pole of attractiveness and example for states from South East Asia to discover and choose Romanian products”.

In his opening remarks the President of Romania-Laos Parliamentary Friendship Group, senator Ionel Agrigoroaei highlighted the fact that:
“Laos does not represent our main diplomatic and political partner in the region, but it also has the potential to quickly become an attraction pole for the Romanian investors and for our assets, taking into account in our bilateral relation the memories we have in over 30 years of fructuous cooperation, before 1989.
Undoubtedly, it is the time to recover the markets we abandoned so quickly after 1989, which led to the decrease of the economic production and unemployment.
By its central position, Laos can become the center of activity and export springboard for South East Asia states, which makes the today’s event more important and representative”, concluded Senator Ionel Agrigoroaei.

On the same line where also the remarks made by Senator Vasilica Steliana Miron, Vice-President of Romania-Laos Parliamentary Friendship Group who made the point that: “Laos has quickly become the most important diplomatic partner of our country in the region and it is becoming an increasing economic presence and a realm of potential with a similar history”.
In the central moment of ceremony and surrounded by thunderous applause Professor Dr. Anton Caragea had introduced to the public the new President of the Romania-Laos Business Council: Mr. Mihai Prundianu.
Professor Dr. Anton Caragea had mark in his presentation the personality and important role played by Mr. Mihai Prundianu in reorganizing Romanian economy underlining that from today the ROMANIAN-LAOS BUSINESS COUNCIL will, benefit from the invaluable knowledge of the area, gained in countless missions in Southeast Asia by Mr. Prundianu.

In his key-note speech the President of Romania-Laos Business Council-Mihai Prundianu presented the relevance of the new institution in the economic and diplomatic environment:
“Laos, by its strategic position on the center of Indochina peninsula, represents the ideal location for economic activities, in order to spread the Romanian goods and technology in the entire area.
The symbolical cooperation bridge Vientiane – Bucharest which is being opened today in order to encourage investments and economic activities, will be beneficial for the entire area.
The big projects launched by the Laotian government, among which I would like to mention the Indochina highway, which connects Bangkok to southern China, the chain of power stations along Mekong river, agricultural terracing works and land improvement and the increase of the tourist potential are only a few of the areas where the Romanian expertise can have a word to say”, concluded the new President of Romania-Laos Business Council.
The who`s who of Romanian society and diplomatic life attended the opening ceremony of ROMANIA-LAOS BUSINESS COUNCIL.
In unanimity the personalities presented at the venue of Romanian-Laos Business Council appreciated the event as an impressive success for Romanian economic diplomacy as it is opening the gates of South-East Asia for Romanian products for the first time in the last twenty years.
