OFFICIAL EXCHANGES OF MESSAGES BETWEEN BAGHDAD AND BUCHAREST

Romania-Iraq relationship is growing rapidly, with the exertions of diplomats from the two countries.

On 2 of October 2014, H. E. Ambassador of Iraq-Omer Berzinji had entrusted upon H. E. Professor Dr. Anton Caragea the official thanking note of H.E. President Fuad Masum of Iraq in response to the congratulation message for his election as president, offered by Chairman of Institute of International Relations and Economic Cooperation-Dr. Anton Caragea.

We highlight the fact that: is the first ever message of election validity recognition, offered for a country in the Middle East region and the first such high level message after a two decades hiatus in the Romania-Iraq bilateral relationship.

We must also emphasize that the Romanian message of support and recognition was the second received in Baghdad, after the United States message, and ambassador Omer Berzinji was congratulated for obtaining a rapid response from the Romanian side.

Professor Dr. Anton Caragea had underlined this recognition of Iraqi elections as a symbol, not just of the rapprochement between the two countries, but also a clear recognition of the efforts of H. E. Ambassador Omer Berzinji that was not solely elected as BEST AMBASSADOR FOR 2013, but also succeeded in revitalize the bilateral connection.

The exchange of congratulatory messages , the recognition of political recent evolution`s and the clearly stated desired of H.E. President Fuad Masum to continue the development of economic cooperation with Romania, as well as the positive trend of cultural and diplomatic cooperation are creating the basis for a rosy future in Romania-Iraqi friendship.

In the aftermath of the protocol moment of handing out the official message of President Fuad Masum, Professor Dr. Anton Caragea and Ambassador Omer Berzinji tabled new aspects of the bilateral cooperation such as: economic cooperation, parliamentary dialogue, organizing the first ever conference dedicated to present the Kurdistan region to Romanian people and preparing a visit of Kurdistan Region President.

Another important point tabled at the meeting was the hastening of the creation of the Bilateral Business Council, an organization that it is instrumental in developing the economical ties between the two nations.

 The parties had agreed on further developing the bilateral conversation, accordingly to the vision carved out by President Fuad Masum in his message.
