IRAQ AMBASSADOR: OMER BERZINJI-SELECTED AS BEST AMBASSADOR FOR 2013

On 27 February 2013, at the headquarters of Institute of International Relations and Economic Cooperation of Romania ,the academic and parliamentary committees held their session, under the leadership of Professor Dr. Anton Caragea.

The session was convened to discuss the selection process for electing the BEST AMBASSADOR FOR 2013.

The main election criteria`s where highlighted as being: the promotion activity, the internal recognition inside Romania of the personality of the ambassador, the importance of bilateral relations and the relevance and significance of the bilateral activity, initiated under the leadership of the ambassador etc.

Taking under considerations all the criteria`s, in unanimity, the academic and parliamentary committee has decided to recommend as BEST AMBASSADOR FOR 2013 the name of H.E. Omer Berzinji-Iraq Ambassador to Romania.

The parliamentary and academic committee has considered the powerful role played by Ambassador Omer Berzinji in achieving the successful visit of Minister of  Foreign Affairs of Iraq-H.E. Hoshyar Zebari, in October 2013, the successful cooperation visit of the first ever delegation of foreign affairs department of Government of Kurdistan, under the leadership of Mr. Falah Mustafa Bakir, the brisk and vigorous increase in the number of economic, politic and cultural delegations from Iraq that toured Romania in the last year.

Statistically speaking, the number of Iraqi delegation`s, in the last year, has surpassed the number of Iraqi official visits in the last ten years.

Taking under considerations this outstanding achievements and to bolster the traditional Romanian-Iraqi friendship and to mark the increase interest of Romania in promoting further the bilateral relation, the academic and parliamentary committee decided to host in the Romanian Parliament the official ceremony of bestowing the title of BEST AMBASSADOR FOR 2013 to H.E. Ambassador Omer Berzinji and to offer a public acknowledgement to his role in promoting a successful bilateral relation.

On 28 February 2013 a jointly academic and parliamentary delegation, lead by Professor Dr. Anton Caragea-IRICE Director and Senator Ionel Agrigoroaei-Chairman of senatorial committee, official announce to H.E. Ambassador of Iraq- Omer Berzinji, the unanimous decision to award him the title of BEST AMBASSADOR FOR 2013 for his strenuous diplomatic efforts and to wish him more successes in the promotion of role and correct image of Iraq amongst Romanian people.

H.E Ambassador Omer Berzinji had express his joy and satisfaction for this decision and stated that: this vote is just a recognition of the Iraq standing in the world, a confirmation of the efficient visit of H.E Foreign Minister of Iraq- Hoshyar Zebari    and of the prestige that his country had retained in the heart of the Romanian people.

Are not my achievements, had modestly stated the ambassador, but there are the achievement`s of my country that are honored by this title and this selection.

The dialogue had continued in an open and amicable atmosphere, discussing the practicalities of the official ceremony held under the patronage of the Romanian parliament. Other themes of discussion marked the economic, cultural, diplomatic and parliamentary opportunities for cooperation opened between the two countries, in order to continuously develop the Iraq-Romania relation, a fundamental bond for Romanian activity in the Middle East region.
